Members of the Adh. Maamigili Council recently held discussions with
Brigadier General (Retd) Ali Zuhair, Managing Director of the Road Development
Corporation (RDC), and senior RDC officials about the ongoing road
modernization project in Maamigili.
The meeting, which included the RDC technical team overseeing the
initiative, centered on addressing concerns raised by the council regarding
delays in the project’s construction timeline. The road modernization project,
which began on September 26, 2020, aims to upgrade the island’s infrastructure
but has faced challenges that have caused setbacks.
Council members highlighted the delays and their impact on the local
community, emphasizing the importance of timely progress. In response, the RDC
technical team outlined the causes of the delays and provided updates on the
current status of the project.
Both parties explored collaborative strategies to overcome obstacles and
ensure the project’s successful and timely completion. The discussions also
touched on additional needs identified by the council and opportunities for
joint efforts to enhance Maamigili’s infrastructure development.
The meeting emphasized the importance of transparency and cooperation
between RDC and the Maamigili Council, reinforcing their shared commitment to
delivering a project that aligns with the community’s expectations and
requirements. 85% of the project to modernize the roads in Adh. Maamigili has
already been completed.
