Agreement Signed for Renovation of Kalaafaanu Ziyaaraiy in ADh. Hangnaameedhoo

Ministry of Culture and Heritage has
signed an agreement with RDC to carry out the renovation and development of the
Kalaafaanu Ziyaaraiy (shrine) in ADh. Hangnaameedhoo.
The agreement was signed by Minister
Adam Naseer Ibrahim on behalf of the Ministry and Managing Director Brigadier
General (Retd) Ali Zuhair on behalf of the Corporation.
This project is part of President
Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s national initiative to preserve the original elements of
heritage sites associated with the “Ghaazee Bandaarain” (national heroes),
safeguard tangible cultural heritage, and create opportunities for
heritage-based tourism and revenue generation.
The first phase of the project will
focus on the restoration and structural renovation of the shrine.
The shrine is dedicated to the son
of Mohamed Boduthakurufaanu—one of the most revered national heroes credited
with liberating the Maldives from Portuguese rule.
