Gdh. Gahdhoo Road Construction Project is well underway, with overall 65% project progress.
As part of this project, work is currently being done on Sharial Ameer Magu's water drainage system, street lighting, and paving.
The equipment for the
construction of asphalt laying work on the roads of Gdh Gaddhoo has been
delivered to the site and work has begun to clean the area and mobilize those
involved in the road construction.
Gaddhoo is the second most
populous Island in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The poor state of the roads in Gaddhoo,
which has a population of approximately 1,760 people, has long been a source of
concern for the Island's residents.
Six major roads, Sharial
Ameer Magu, Violet Magu, Orchid Magu, Handhuvaree Magu, Ameer Ahmed Magu and
Vathabadeyri Magu will be developed in Gaddhoo. A total of 6 kilometers of road will be paved and storm water management will be installed. This includes the installation
of streetlights as well as the installation of all electrical cables required
for the road lighting.
The project was awarded to
RDC for MVR 138 million and is being carried out under the road design and
building policy of Gdh. Gahdhoo Major Roads.
Ministry of Housing and
Infrastructure signed an agreement with RDC to complete the project within 751
days.
