Foundation Stones Laid for Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo Fitness and Recreation Centers

The foundation stones for the new Fitness and Recreation Centers in Addu
City’s Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo have been officially laid, marking a significant
step in strengthening sports and recreational infrastructure in the region.
The foundation stone–laying ceremonies were held during the official visit
of His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to the two islands, highlighting
the Government’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and community
well-being across island communities.
The foundation stone for the Hulhudhoo Fitness and Recreation Center was
laid by the Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, Mr. Adam Shareef
Umar, together with the State Minister for Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Mr.
Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim. The ceremony was attended by the Member of Parliament for
Hulhudhoo Constituency, Mr. Mohamed Shahid, and the Managing Director of the
Corporation, Mr. Ibrahim Nazeem, along with other officials.
The foundation stone for the Meedhoo Fitness and Recreation Center was laid
at a separate ceremony officiated by the Minister of Cities, Local Government
and Public Works, Mr. Adam Shareef Umar. The State Minister for Sports, Fitness
and Recreation, Mr. Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim; the Managing Director of the
Corporation, Mr. Ibrahim Nazeem; and the President of the Meedhoo Council, Ms.
Aminath Salih, were also present at the ceremony.
Once completed, the fitness and recreation centers will include indoor gym
facilities, aerobics areas, spaces for board games, and provisions for various
indoor sports. These facilities are expected to play an important role in
promoting physical health, social interaction, and overall well-being among
residents of Hulhudhoo, Meedhoo, and the wider Addu City community.
