GDh. Gahdhoo Road Development Project, a significant infrastructure
initiative, is nearing completion, with 95% of the work already completed.
The project involves the modernization of six major roads on the island:
Sharial Ameer Magu, Violet Magu, Orchid Magu, Handhuvaree Magu, Ameer Ahmed
Magu, and Vathabadeyri Magu. This initiative includes paving a total of 6
kilometers of road, installing a stormwater drainage system, streetlights, and
all necessary electrical cables for road lighting.
Key progress has been achieved with the completion of the stormwater
management system for the proposed roads. This includes the installation of
cable junctions, construction of drainage gutters and outfall pipes for the pump stations.
Ongoing work includes asphalt laying, with 90% of this task already completed.
Once finished, the project is expected to significantly enhance the island's
infrastructure, improving road connectivity and addressing longstanding
concerns about road conditions for the residents of Gahdhoo.
