Updated at: 20 July 2026
The Maafannu Futsal Ground has officially reopened following
the completion of extensive renovation works carried out under the Road
Development Corporation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The renovated facility was inaugurated by the Minister of
Youth Empowerment, Sports and Health, Abdulla Rafiu, at a special ceremony. The
event was attended by the Corporation’s Managing Director Ibrahim Nazeem,
Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Nabeeh Afeef, and the Member of Parliament for
Maafannu West Constituency, Musthafa Ibrahim, along with other distinguished
guests.
The renovation project was undertaken at the request of the
Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Health as part of the Corporation’s
commitment to supporting community development through its CSR programme.
Renovation works commenced in December 2025, during which
the futsal ground was temporarily closed to facilitate the upgrades. Following
the successful completion of the works, the facility was officially handed over
to the Ministry on 4 July 2026.
The upgraded futsal ground is expected to provide a safer
and improved sporting environment for the community while encouraging greater
participation in sports and promoting healthier lifestyles.
