Physical works for the Development of Major Roads of Th. Guraidhoo have officially commenced.

Physical works for the Th. Guraidhoo Road Development Project have officially commenced, marking a significant milestone in the Government's efforts to enhance infrastructure and improve connectivity across the island.

The project was inaugurated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his official visit to Thaa Atoll in September 2025. The ceremony was attended by several Cabinet ministers, the Managing Director of Road Development Corporation (RDC), Ibrahim Nazeem, President of the Guraidhoo Council Thawfeeq Ali, and senior officials from the island council.

Implemented under the Government's Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP), the project aims to modernise the island's road network and strengthen public infrastructure.

The scope of the project includes the development of 10 roads with a combined length of 2.87 kilometres, covering all of the island's main roads. The works include asphalt surfacing, the construction of sidewalks, installation of a stormwater drainage system, curbstones, tree pits, and paving works.

The project was awarded to the Road Development Corporation (RDC) on 7 August 2025 at a contract value of MVR 69,229,152.00 and is scheduled for completion within 730 days.

Upon completion, the project is expected to significantly improve road safety, accessibility, and mobility while enhancing the overall transport infrastructure and quality of life for the residents of Th. Guraidhoo.
