RDC has been entrusted with the development of waste
management centers in 24 islands, as well as the upgrading of several existing
facilities. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to
strengthen waste management infrastructure across the Maldives.
The agreement was formally signed by Minister of Tourism and
Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim, on behalf of the government, and Managing Director
Brigadier General (Retd) Ali Zuhair on behalf of the Corporation.
This project aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s
commitment to establish proper waste management facilities on all inhabited
islands within the year, addressing long-standing environmental challenges
across the nation.
Preparatory work is currently underway to ensure timely
implementation and completion of the project in accordance with the established
schedule.
