RDC Awarded Contract to Implement Sports Projects in 23 Islands

Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been awarded the contract to develop sports facilities in 23 islands, as part of a broader national initiative to implement 77 sports projects across the Maldives.
The nationwide plan includes the construction of 34 outdoor gyms, 28 fitness and recreation centers, 7 football fields, 5 futsal grounds, and 2 volleyball courts.
A formal handover ceremony was held at H. Boalhage, where the agreements were signed by the Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Mr. Abdulla Rafiu. RDC's Managing Director, Brigadier General (Retd) Ali Zuhair, signed on behalf of the corporation.
The corporation is committed to completing these projects as swiftly as possible, in line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s vision of promoting community well-being through accessible sports infrastructure. Over the next two years, the initiative is expected to foster a healthier society, uplift community spirit, and pave the way for the development of future athletes.
