Significant Fleet of Machinery Acquired to Accelerate National Development Projects

A substantial fleet of heavy machinery has been procured to accelerate infrastructure development across the Maldives and support the simultaneous implementation of multiple large-scale projects.

The acquisition was carried out under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Infrastructure Development Solutions (IDS) and the Road Development Corporation (RDC). As part of this collaboration, IDS entered into a strategic agreement with XCMG one of China’s leading manufacturers of construction machinery to secure modern equipment required for the large-scale projects currently undertaken by RDC.

A special ceremony was held in Thilafushi to officially inaugurate and hand over the newly acquired assets.

Under this strategic arrangement, a total of 230 units of vehicles and heavy machinery have been delivered to the Maldives, significantly enhancing the operational capacity of ongoing and future development projects.

In addition to the supply of equipment, the partnership includes the establishment of a dedicated service center for maintenance and a spare parts distribution hub by the partner companies. These initiatives are expected to improve operational efficiency and provide a sustainable solution to logistical and maintenance challenges associated with large-scale infrastructure development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director Mr. Ibrahim Nazeem stated that the addition of this fleet will address existing operational constraints and support a more accelerated pace of national development. He emphasized that the procurement reflects the Government’s commitment, under the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, to advancing infrastructure development across the country.

The Managing Director further noted that the enhanced capacity will enable the Corporation to execute projects more efficiently and ensure timely delivery of key infrastructure initiatives in line with national development priorities.
