The Ministry of Education and the
Road Development Corporation have officially signed agreements to undertake
several major school infrastructure development projects across the Maldives,
aimed at strengthening and improving learning environments nationwide.
The agreements were signed on behalf
of the Ministry of Education by the Minister of State for Education, Dr.
Abdul Latheef Mohamed, while the Corporation was represented by its Chief
Financial Officer, Mr. Hassan Rifau Bushree.
Under the agreements, a range of
infrastructure development works will be carried out at schools located on
various islands. The key projects include:
- Construction of a multi-purpose hall and staff room at Ha. Uligamu School
- Construction of a 12-classroom building at Ha. Ihavandhoo School
- Establishment of a student administration block at R. Hulhudhuffaaru School
- Infrastructure development works at the Raa Atoll Education Centre
- Construction of an 8-classroom building and a hall at K. Gaafaru School
- Construction of a new school building at K. Guraidhoo
The Government of President Mohamed
Muizzu continues to prioritize the development of school infrastructure by
providing essential structural and educational resources. In this regard, the
Ministry of Education noted that renovation works worth MVR 90 million
have been completed at schools over the past two years.
The government anticipates that
these projects will significantly address space constraints faced by schools in
the atolls and contribute to creating safer, more conducive learning
environments for students.
