Two Development Projects Launched in Hinnavaru; Agreement Signed for MNU Campus

Two major development projects have been officially launched in Hinnavaru, while an agreement has also been signed for the construction of a campus and hall of the Maldives National University (MNU) on the island.

During the official visit of His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to Hinnavaru, three separate ceremonies were held to mark the commencement of the projects being implemented in the island. These include the construction of the Hinnavaru Police Station and the Hinnavaru Fitness and Recreation Centre, as well as the signing of the agreement for the MNU campus and accommodation building.

The practical construction work of the Hinnavaru Police Station was inaugurated by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Mr. Ali Ihsan. The ceremony was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ismail Naveen; the Member of Parliament for Hinnavaru Constituency, Mr. Mohamed Abdul Rahman; the Managing Director of the Corporation, Mr. Ibrahim Nazeem; and the President of the Hinnavaru Council, Mr. Hassan Shafiu, along with other officials.

The Hinnavaru Fitness and Recreation Centre project was inaugurated by the Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Mr. Abdullah Rafiu. The event was attended by the Hinnavaru Constituency Member of Parliament, Mr. Mohamed Abdul Rahman; the Managing Director of the Corporation, Mr. Ibrahim Nazeem; and the President of the Hinnavaru Council, Mr. Hassan Shafiu.

In addition, the agreement for the construction of a campus and accommodation building of the Maldives National University in Hinnavaru was signed during the visit. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Maldives National University by its Vice Chancellor, Dr. Aishath Shehnaz Adam, while the agreement was signed on behalf of the Corporation by its Managing Director, Mr. Ibrahim Nazeem.

These projects reflect the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening public services, expanding higher education infrastructure, and improving community facilities across the islands.
